Yesterday, at 4:30 the wrestling team went to the training convention for a last work out to make weight for the next day. This tournament is the NCWA National Duals. Surprisingly, as us managers just sat down, we were introduced to a man named Jim, and asked us if we would like to participate in serving at the "City of refuge" soup kitchen. Having the opportunity to serve before at other local soup kitchens, I was very excited and could hardly wait. While two mangers stayed back, Rachel, Joy, and I headed to the soup kitchen. In all honesty I was a little nervous just because of the unfamiliar setting, but as I entered the small refuge and looked at the people who waited anxiously for their food, I realized how much these people needed our help. They looked so desperate, and alone, and some trying so hard to keep a brave composure. The lady who served with us brought us to the children, and said "make a friend". It was an amazing experience getting to know them. In fact we made lots of friends who I will never forget. As they prayed for our team to do well, I thought of how even in their awful situation, they are still willing to give what they do have, and that was most importantly their prayers! As we finished cleaning, we saw 5 kids and a mom waiting on the bench. This family lost their house, due to their father loosing his job. Their smiles were all so beautiful. We soon made 5 friends that I will cherish in my heart forever. Kevin, Jasmin, Mercades, Ida, Hiro all gave us hugs as we left the soup kitchen. This experience made me realize how much God has blessed me and my family, and made me be more appreciative. These families survive off the hope and love of other people. Even though they may not have a home to call their own, they now have a friend that they will have forever.
Some wrestlers from other teams came to serve as well. Later that night we were interviewed,
and were told that we would be put in the "Daily citizen" Newspaper of Dalton, Georgia.
There were two pictures in the newspaper...one of these two wrestlers, and one of Rachel, Joy, and I. But I couldn't find the one of us on the internet.
These are two guys from the wrestling team "Middle Tennessee".

Running 4 Him!
It's that time again! Cross country season starts up in September, and I have to start training. As much as I have enjoyed my break, I am looking forward to getting back into it! This will be my 5th year on the Peaks View Pacer team, which is very exciting! It's 43 degrees outside with not much sun. I hope I don't freeze.
Here it goes!
